Built by and for the local community.

Connecting local people with real opportunities

Our Story

Where the idea came from

Real experience. Real challenges. A simpler way forward.

After working for over 10 years in student wellbeing and financial support, a huge part of my role was helping reduce barriers that stopped people accessing the support, opportunities or education available to them.

Often, the challenge wasn’t a lack of help — it was that systems were complicated, information was spread across multiple places, or people simply didn’t know where to start.

Since stepping away from that role, I’ve seen many of those same barriers reflected in local employment.

Living in a rural area like the High Peak brings its own challenges. Transport and commuting can limit options. Employers often advertise in different places and formats, while job seekers are left trying to piece everything together.

For many people, finding work locally isn’t just about applying for jobs — it’s about knowing where to look, feeling confident enough to apply, understanding what’s available, and being able to access it in the first place.

The High Peak Jobs Hub was created as a starting point to help reduce some of those barriers.

What makes us different

WHY THE HUB IS DIFFERENT

We’re not just another job board. The High Peak Jobs Hub is built differently - because our community is different.

Not just another job board

The High Peak Jobs Hub is a community-led space, not a faceless platform. We focus on real local roles that matter to people living and working in the High Peak.

Simple and accessible

We share jobs in a clear, straightforward way, avoiding jargon and highlighting key details like location, hours and pay wherever possible.

Local-first focus

We prioritise roles in Buxton, Glossop, New Mills, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Hope Valley and nearby areas, so people can find work that fits their lives.

Human support behind the scenes

There’s a real person behind the Hub, keeping an eye on what’s shared and listening to feedback from the community.

Independent and community-led

High Peak Jobs Hub has been built independently to stay focused on the needs of local people and businesses across the High Peak and immediate surrounding areas. The aim is to keep opportunities accessible, clear and community-focused rather than feeling like another large, cluttered job platform.

“It’s about making opportunities easier to find, and connections easier to make.”

LOOKING AHEAD

Where we want to go

Growing carefully, while keeping things local.

Our next step is to develop the High Peak Jobs Hub into a more structured local platform. We want to create a dedicated space where job seekers can browse opportunities with even greater ease, and where local employers can reach the right people more effectively than ever before.

As we grow, the focus will remain exactly the same: keeping things simple, fair, and community-led. We are evolving the platform to better serve the unique needs of our local economy without losing the human touch. Every update we make will be guided by the goal of making local work accessible for everyone.

“The aim is not to become the biggest platform — but one that genuinely works for local people and businesses.”
